Rhetorical Rationale
My intended audience for my three revised pieces is my English instructor and classmates therefore they were more academic pieces than artistic. As a writer I always try to be clear, concise and I try to provide my audience with background on what I am writing about like what I did in my visual analysis piece. For “Me as a Metaphor” I tried to be more specific on some parts, for example on how my view of the world has changed for the fact that I’ve had the opportunity to travel and live in three very different countries. My goal on revising my visual analysis was to not center so much on the issue itself but more on the effect that the cartoon had on people at the time, and the appeal to pathos, ethos and logos. I tried to be more specific on what I thought was the logic of the cartoon based on my knowledge on the issue and the author, the association of sickness with discomfort and how was that perceive by people and the credibility of the author, who went from writing children’s books to being a political cartoonist. When revising my rhetorical analysis I tried not to be so repetitive, and also to identify the intended audience a little more. How the rhetoric specifically appealed to young people. Also I added an evaluation of the effectiveness of the song.
For each revision I analyzed my peer reviews and my instructor’s feedback. I wrote what each piece had to be added and went through each one to eliminate unnecessary information. For me, it was helpful to know what my audience thought of my work; it showed me what I have to work on and what I do right as a writer. I feel like I still need to work on my writing, be more specific and descriptive, and maybe more organized but then again, no one is a perfect writer.
